The Concept of the Church
In those days the Church understood herself as the "Meter and Magisterial" (Mother and Teacher), the missionaries lived it so concretely and literally that the people could form the image of the church. This concept of the church displayed by the missionaries still continues in our time. Surely the church must live this concept, this doctrine. However in the millennium the church is expected to be the home and school of communion - this is the challenge which we are called to face. The people have to learn it from their priests and their collaborators. They will understand this concept of the church if they see it from the lives of those who proclaim the Gospel. To conclude this point I would like to add that this method of the word incarnate, JESUS CHRIST, who in order to be one with us in all things except sins assumed our human nature, He knows our weakness. We can approach with confidence so that we may receive mercy and fine grace to help us in our need (Hebrew 4:14-16) "Therefore since we have a great High Priest who have gone through the heaven Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess for we do not have a high priest who is unable sympathize with our weakness, but we have one who has been tempted in every way just as we are yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
For our poor Christians of Faisalabad we always lived under the subjugation and are feudal lords still to some extent. This attitude of the missionaries "to be one with them" was like a revolution it gave them a lot of confidence. They felt that they were considered on the level of others. Thanks the pastors for having given confidence to his people.
